Executive Chairman HfG Ulm Foundation

He has the world at his feet and Ulm in his heart: Dr. Dieter Bosch, while working for Daimler Benz, Daimler Chrysler and Mercedes Benz LL round the globe, has maintained close ties to his home town. Hence, it is a logical step that the native from Ulm” took on a new challenge in his place of birth after his first career allowed him to do so. “In all the years that I have worked for the hfg ulm foundation and the IFG-board I noticed that my knowledge of cultural and public relations can be of great value here. I’m convinced that my experience of many years as an international networker of a global corporation can be of great benefit for the hfg ulm foundation,” says Dr. Dieter Bosch and continues: Cultural sensibility and cosmopolitanism are the prerequisites for any successful Management – this principle applies to areas of science and cultur as well.

Bosch was born into a middle class family of entrepreneurs in 1942 in Ulm whose roots lie in craftsmanship and engineering. This heritage, combined with his studies of arts and humanities in Tübingen and München, represent the basis for  his conviction that both abilities - manual and intellectual – are needed when it comes to ceating intelligent design configurations.

After his academic education that included three years of studies in Paris and London he started his career as a civil servant for the government of the State of Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart. He then followed the “Stuttgart Star” (Mercedes-Benz) that had allured him with interesting executive and staff functions into the capital city. Bosch served under seven chief executive chairmen of Daimler Benz, Daimler Chrysler and Mercedes Benz and extended  a wide network in economy and culture. His global post as “Director  Corporate Protocol and Key Relationship Management” led him to all continents.

The return from the international stage of a global corporation wasn’t difficult for Bosch. A new challenge with a top priority on international arrangements awaited him at the hfg ulm foundation and the International Forum of “Gestaltung” (IFG). “My roots lie in Ulm, just as the ones of the legendary hfg ulm, but my interests and mentality embrace the whole world, just as in the case  of all hfg ulm teachers, scholars and friends Yet any activity needs a solid foundationt, a spiritual home, especially in globalised times (think global, act local!). I want to strengthen the awareness and make it a matter of fact that the hfg foundation and it’s affiliate, the IFG, are located in Ulm. In this way I can can effect something  for my place of birth endeavors to be a center of science and learning.
